Dan East hits the
Airwaves
Rio
Rancho, NM – Starting on Monday, September 15th,
Dan East for Congress will hit the radio with
ads that reintroduce him to voters. The
campaign released two new ads, "Dan East" and
"Voice". They will air on a dozen stations
throughout Northern New Mexico.
District Three Poll
Results
Rio
Rancho, NM – In a new poll conducted by Kimball
Political Consulting (KPC) for Dan East, the voters
are taking notice of Dan. The study was conducted
on Saturday August 16, 2008 and the results were
encouraging, showing that Dan is only 15.9% behind
Ben Ray. The poll had a margin of error of +/-
4.3%.
Campaign
spokeswoman Donna Duerre released the following
statement.
“The fact that Dan, a new comer, is less than 16
points behind the New Mexico Patron system’s
Golden Boy, shows that the people of New Mexico
are ready for real change. They are ready for a
Congressman with sincerity, honor, and business
leadership. Dan is the only man in this race
who possesses those qualities.”
Dan East Makes GOP
History
Rio
Rancho, NM – This week, Dan East made Republican
history for Northern New Mexico’s Third
Congressional district. Going back to 1998, no
Republican candidate for the district has raised
more than $64,000 in total campaign funds. Dan East
busted through that record this week by exceeding a
fundraising total of $115,000!
Campaign
spokeswoman, Donna Duerre released the following
statement about the news.
“Dan East is the
best man for the job, and people are noticing.
This northern seat is not a safe seat for the
Democrats anymore. Dan is working very hard to
make sure that the people of New Mexico elect a
Congressman who will live in the district, pay
attention to their needs, and represent all
interests in Washington. That message is
getting out and people are responding. Dan
would like to thank all of our supporters for
their generosity and kindness.”
Clovis Candidate Forum
Cancelled due to Ben Ray's "schedule conflict"
Forum had been scheduled for over a month, yet a
last minute "conflict" denied the people of Curry
County a chance to hear candidate platforms.
Rio
Rancho, NM -- The Association of Commerce &
Industry (ACI) had a Candidate forum scheduled in
Clovis tomorrow, Wednesday August 6th.
The event had been scheduled for over a month, but
was cancelled this morning when Ben Ray notified the
hosts that he would not be attending. His campaign
claimed he had a scheduling conflict, even though he
had been confirmed to attend for at least a month.
Republican candidate Dan East, along with the two
Independent candidates, Carol Miller and Ron
Simmons, had all committed to attend and were
planning to be in Clovis on Wednesday for the
forum. Dan East had harsh words for Ben Ray.
"I
want to know if he is scared to face me, or if
he is scared of his constituents. He showed up
last night in Santa Fe for the ACI forum, but
that was "safe" territory for him, a third of
the audience was his family or staff. His
handlers are afraid to let him get outside of
the Santa Fe area. How are the people of Clovis
supposed to know who he is or what he stands for
if he refuses to tell them? How can the people
of Northern New Mexico trust him to represent
them if he doesn't show up? It's outrageous
that he denied the voters the right to learn
about the candidates in this race because of his
selfish pride and his fear."
Pelosi's Stalinist Stunt
Rio Rancho, NM --
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) shut down
the House of Representatives around 11:30 EST this
morning by turning off all of the lights,
microphones and cameras. Since then, House
Republicans have been protesting in the dark on the
floor of the House, chanting "work, work, work".
The move came when House Republicans tried to push
through a vote on Energy Policy to allow for more
domestic drilling.
Dan East responded to
Pelosi's action. Here is what he had to say:
"This is
absolutely outrageous! Does she not realize this
is America and that she has sworn to uphold the
Constitution? Pelosi just demonstrated the
selfishness of the power-hungry Liberals. Her
actions prove that Democrats want Americans to
be dependent on them so that they retain their
vice-grip hold on our wallets. Americans need,
and have been demanding, lower gas prices. The
only way to stabilize the price of gas is to
drill here, and drill now! I urge President Bush
to call Congress back to vote on the Energy
crisis. "
Where in the world is
Ben Ray?
Ruidoso, NM -- The New
Mexico Farm Bureau Association met for their annual
State Convention at the Inn of the Mountain Gods
today. Included on the schedule, was a Candidate
forum for New Mexico's Federal candidates. Notably
missing from the forum was Ben Ray Lujan, son of
State House speaker Ben Lujan, and Democratic
Candidate for New Mexico's Third Congressional
District.
Dan East, Republican
Candidate for the Congressional seat was the last
man standing. He had this to say about his
opponent's absence:
"This is the fourth forum
where the people of New Mexico have been stood
up by Ben Ray. I want to know why his handlers
are not allowing him to meet me face to face.
What are they hiding him from? The people of
this district deserve better, and I challenge
the Speaker to allow his son to debate me."
Drill here, drill now
Rio Rancho, NM --
President Bush today lifted the Executive ban on oil
drilling on the Outer-Continental shelf, the Alaskan
National Wilderness Refuge (ANWR), and the Rocky
Mountain regions of America. President Bush asked
Congress to follow his lead and lift the
Congressional ban on drilling in those areas. Dan
East responded with the following Statement;
“That is
fantastic! Congress needs to follow suit and
lift their ban as well. As I have said all
along, we need to focus on domestic drilling to
stabilize the price of oil. The liberal left in
Congress is going to try to fight this, but
Pelosi and her group need to get on board with
what Americans are telling them to do. They were
elected to represent, not serve their own
interests.”
Protecting America’s Interests
Rio Rancho, NM -- Iran test fired
missiles capable of reaching Israel, Wednesday, over
the Strait of Hormuz. Soon after the US
condemnation of the action, OPEC released a
statement painting a dreary future of gasoline
prices if the Iranian supply was disrupted.
Dan East,
Republican Congressional nominee for New Mexico’s
Third District, released the following statement
today, regarding Iran’s missile testing and OPEC’s
grim statement.
“Iran’s recent show of force
demonstrates the need for America to defend our
allies in the face of any and all threats to
their security. This recent threat to global
oil supply validates our need to drill here, and
drill now. America has the capability to make
up the loss from Iranian production if
government regulations would allow it.”
Net Neutrality, protecting consumer interest
Rio Rancho, NM -- Dan East,
Republican Congressional nominee for New Mexico’s
third district, released the following statement
today outlining his support for maintaining Net
Neutrality.
“Without Net Neutrality, the best
products and services are determined by
companies, and potentially government
regulators, rather than consumers. Prices could
be artificially inflated for lower quality
products and services and could discourage
technological advances. Companies need to
properly manage their resources to maintain a
high level of service for consumers and ensure
adequate returns on their investments; they
shouldn’t rely on the government to bail them
out. It goes back to what I have said all
along, American ingenuity needs to be cultivated
at all levels to maintain a free market system
and encourage economic growth.”
